My experience in the Lazo Centennial was one of the memories I will remember most. That once in a lifetime experience, meeting relatives, and bonding and reuniting with cousins, was one I will treasure my entire life. It gave me great pleasure to be able to go through all that and knowing that the Lazo spirit that was there had been rekindled once again and will go on for a long time; and that the experience in whole, made me ever-so-proud to be a LAZO.

Of the 20 Christmases that I have celebrated in my entire life, Christmas 1998 is the BEST ever!
I didn't even feel tired despite the countless activities that our family did during Christmas--I felt the fatigue only after everyone had gone home. And even when my body was tired, I was craving for more gimmicks with the cousins.
The reunion at Cabuyao was so much fun--all the relatives were so game to do what was requested of them, from singing, to dancing, to joining the eating relay. (Marianne and Kuya Donnell, you guys are such
great people to work with! It was fun organizing the entertainment part of the reunion with you!)
THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE REUNION AT CABUYAO:
1) We are a BIG and closely knit family.
2) Kuya Donnell is a good co-host.
3) The Lazos are great performers--singing, dancing, cheerleading
4) The eating relay is THE perfect game for this family with such a great appetite.
5) The Lazos are such great camera lovers.
6) It's easy to amuse the Lazos with simple magic tricks.
Next, the Vigan trip. Ahhh... that was the height of it. It could have been a lot more fun if everyone went, though. Truly, the Vigan trip was a learning experience.
THINGS I LEARNED FROM THE VIGAN TRIP:
1) Tito Victor and Tita Chriselle really know how to kick it with their nieces and nephew.
2) Again: The Lazos are such great camera lovers.
3) I learned that GOMBURZA (the 3 priests) weren't beheaded or hanged. A special machine was built to kill them.
4) I have a tito and tita who are less than twenty years old and I have at least one cousin who is about twenty times two years old.
5) It's easy to drive a kalesa--horse-driven carriage.
6) There is a difference between tsokolate eh and tsokolate ah.
7) Lazo appetite = good appetite for good food.
8) Valerie Albolote was a WOLF in her previous life.
9) Garissons in Spanish times (where the Spaniards killed a lot of innocent Filipinos) have been preserved--seen the one at Sarrat Church! Freaky place.
10) Midnight bustrips from Vigan to Manila are full of surprises and adventures!

As one of the organizers, let me say that we couldn't have done things without everybody's cooperation. The reunion was a great time to renew ties and meet new aunts, uncles, cousins and just touch base with
relatives. It was really great! It was so great that the Manila chapter is thinking of having another get together for Lola Mary's 100th birthday.

The Lazo Centennial Reunion was simply a magnificent experience. It was great to see all of my relatives again after such a long time. And in some cases, I met a lot of new people who I have never met before. Overall, the reunion was a symbol of family togetherness. Everything about the centennial was as close to perfect as you can get- the games, the entertainment, and of course, the food. This event was a once in a lifetime gig. Thanks to the organizers who made it all possible.
